Sheet Mask Showdown Vol. I

This one is for all my fellow dry skin friends out there. As I've mentioned many times before, I have ridiculously dry skin and finding products that are adequately hydrating can be very challenging. I watched a YouTube video from blogger Aimee Song, aka Song of Style, where she tried out using a sheet mask every day for a week to see how it would work for her and to if she would notice a big difference in the end (she has dry skin as well). After that, I got an idea. I already had two different sheet masks that I had been saving up for something special plus I received a coupon from Sephora for $10 off a purchase of $50 and decided to use that to buy some different sheet masks and create my own little challenge. My test was not exclusively Korean brands like Aimee's, they're either Korean brands or are Asian inspired, but I really wanted to see how this would work for my super dry skin. When I was making my selections I decided to keep them all under $10 and my main focus was masks geared towards dry skin/hydration. I decided to do every other day just to stretch the challenge out longer and to give my skin recovery time to normalize a little between masks in case of a reaction since I do have somewhat sensitive skin.

For rating these I decide to give you an overall rating out of five stars based off of how long the mask can be left on - I'm not the most keen on the slimy feeling of sheet masks plus you can't move your face a lot so this does effect the overall rating for me. I also judged them on if I would repurchase the mask and included any other additional thoughts I have that don't fit into the other areas. I wrote the individual reviews as I was trying them out, vs doing it all at the end, so the masks later on had more to be compared to than the early ones so keep in mind that they had more competition. Let's see how they faired!

If you're wondering why there's no Dr. Jart+ it's because I have actually already tried most of the masks from the brand that are for hydration/dry skin so that is why you don't see any of those here. The one that worked really well for me is the Ceramidin mask but I was really unimpressed with the Water Replenishment mask and the Vital Hydra Solution mask.

The clear winner here is the Skin Laundry Hydrating Mask. It had the second shortest time frame and made my skin feel the best afterwards. The Farmacy Hydrating Mask is a close second and I would put the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Mask up there with the other two as my favorite sheet masks that I've tried so far. Those are the three I would repurchase and would highly suggest for those with super dry/dehydrated skin. If you have tried any of these masks I would love to hear how they worked out for you! Skincare is totally personal so products that don't work for me might work well for you or vice versa. I really enjoyed doing this post and want to make it into a series but try getting the masks from different retailers and see how they compare across the board. If you have sheet masks recommendations for dry skin feel free to leave it in the comments below. Thank you for visiting and have a lovely day!
