Updated Sunglasses Collection (Summer 2019)

Better late than never? I really wanted to get this up in time for National Sunglasses Day, June 27, but I had sent a pair off to get new lenses and didn’t get them back in time to be able to photograph and edit all 15 pairs. Yes, you read that right, I have now amassed 15 pairs of sunglasses. Back when I did my first sunglasses collection in the summer of 2017 I had 15 pairs and then a month later I had purchased three more. To say I have a problem would be an understatement…I keep a Google doc of all my purchases and the ones I’ve sold or given away (which currently stands at 36). I wanted this to be more cut and dry and not ramble on too much so I rated the MSRP using a scale of 1-10 with one being the lowest ($70) and 10 being the most expensive retail value ($480). I also rated the wearability from 1-5 with one being the pairs I find more tricky to style or having to have a specific type of outfit for and five meaning it goes with pretty much anything. I thought using the scale system would be a good way to convey info in fewer words (and I think it looks cool), little did I know how much math it would involve to get my intervals right for the MSRP. I’m also not including photos with me modeling them this time, I did in my previous two sunglasses post so you can check those out if you want to see about half of these on my face, it just didn’t work out this time (and I tried twice, tried shooting inside and outside and they both sucked). It takes a lot of time to shoot and edit 15 pairs of sunglasses so I figured I better get this up while it’s still summer otherwise we’ll be waiting ‘till winter for me to get it right so I hope you like the format and let’s get to it!

Legend: $ = 1 & ¢ = .5, thought $.5 looked weird but I needed to use half steps since there’s such a huge jump between whole steps on the scale I came up with due to how large the price range is.

Purchase Date: June 19, 2019

Purchased @: TJ Maxx (Online)

MSRP: $$

Note: I’m Probably going to have these re-lensed because I’m not a huge fan of colored mirrored lenses (plus I think it’ll make them more wearable) but I love these frames and I got them at a great price!

Since I didn’t include photos of me modeling each pair I rephotographed them all so I could get better product shots showing off the details, I didn’t shoot very many angles the first time around, so I hope that makes up for not having the face shots. My top three favorites are the Oscar & Frank Haarlem, Gucci Clubmaster and KOMONO Clement. You definitely don’t have to spend the kind of money I have to curate a killer sunglasses collection, I first started with a ton of pairs from Quay Australia. If you do want to get into the designer/high-end game and buy new without paying full MSRP I highly recommend places like TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, The Outnet, Barney’s Warehous etc. In my opinion you do get what you pay for, my more expensive sunglasses feel more expensive because they’re heavier, sturdier and feel more well made but there are amazing styles out there at all different price points and I don’t think you need to spend an abhorrent amount of money to get some great sunglasses. If you have any questions about a specific pair I own please do not hesitate to ask, I love talking about sunglasses (obviously). I had LASIK a few years ago and have very light sensitive eyes so that’s how I’ve somewhat justified my obsession. I found a few photos on my phone of my past sunglasses collections so I included those so you can see how much my taste has changed and how far my collection has come in just the past few years. I hope you enjoyed this, I certainly did, so if you’ve read all this I would just like to say thank you for giving me your time and allowing me to indulge in one of my obsessions. I think that is it for today so I will see you next time!
